Roman Garcia stands for the God-given right of citizens’ Free Speech:

  1. March 2024, an ordinance was passed that restricts political and religious speech including handing out pamphlets of a religious or political nature on the sidewalk.
  2. Roman explains why this ordinance does that in the video below. Also has an interview on the Matt Long show the following day, March 27, 2024.

Joe Herring & Brenda Hughes

100% voting record of raising taxes:

  1. Everyone received their tax bills post-May 2022 proposition, and saw that they increased by almost 20%.
  2. Property tax collection is 35% higher than it was four years ago.
  3. City debt nearly doubled from 2020 to present, currently approaching $120 million.
  4. We’re more dependent on debt now than ever.

Voted for an ordinance that restricts political and religious speech in the public right-of-way:

  1. March 2024, this ordinance restricts political and religious speech including handing out pamphlets of a religious or political nature on the sidewalk.
  2. Here is an “objective journalist” who runs the Kerr County Lead, testifying IN FAVOR of restricting your First Amendment rights

Supported unsustainable growth that benefits out-of-town developers:

  1. The not-so-low-income housing of the “Lennar homes” project. They are low quality, not low-income.
  2. Government subsidies given to Lennar will raise taxes for everyone, and increase the cost of housing.
  3. Incentivized unsustainable growth, such as Megaacrete and Lennar.

Voted for a more restrictive outdoor lighting ordinance:

  1. January 2023, including regulation of what kind of lights you can have on inside your house.

Did not protect water resources or our small-town values:

  1. City leadership refused to comply with Headwaters Groundwater District drought restrictions that were imposed to preserve our water.
  2. Roman video clip to follow up with Headwaters, failed for lack of second.
  3. Incentivized businesses that overuse water resources. For example, the new Megaacrete facility.
  4. Penalizes citizens for water conservation.

Supported sexually-explicit material in the children’s section of the library:

  1. Brenda Bible-slamming video clip.
  2. Promoted obscene material for children at the library
  3. Rather than leading, council passed the buck to the unelected Library Advisory Board.
  4. Continued to turn a blind eye and denied the existence of this issue. Listen to this reading in city council meeting, of material found in children’s section of library.

Prioritize out-of-town developers’ wants over resident’s needs:

  1. Council caters to special interests.
  2. Joe and Brenda prioritize pet projects that cost taxpayers money, over the general needs of the City.
  3. Prioritized wants of Lennar Homes over the needs of citizens, such as low-income housing and a reduced tax burden.
  4. Prioritized the water & land-use wants of Megaacrete above citizens’ needs.
